Morning all.

I have a HP2210 with TTN2 and checkpoint with the PGPS gatso database, or rather I did.

I hadn't used it for two weeks and when I plugged it into the car socket today it booted up into a new start mode, and appears to have lost all my data.

The SD card still appears to have all the map and gatso data, but the TTN2 and checkpoint programs seem to be gone.

Can I get these back or will I have to reload it all using active sync?

When I bought the system originally from Holux the TTN2 was already installed so I am not sure what I should do first. I am assuming that I need to load the TTN2 onto the hard drive of the 2210, and then load on the checkpoint software.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Because you hadn't used the PDA for two weeks, the battery died and you lost all the data on the machine's memory (this memory is volatile... it needs a constant flow of juice or it forgets things, the memory on the SD card is non volatile, so it doesn't forget!).

You'll have to reinstall TT. To do this I suggest you first delete the map data from the SD card (just for good measure). Set up active sync and bung the TT disc into your pc. You'll get a nice wizard to do the rest for you. Install the software onto the PDA (default location) and maps onto the SD card. It's easiest if you are hooked up to the net at the same time for the registration process.

Next you'll have to download the relevant POI database (info on pocket GPS site) and install CheckPOInt (or whatever you use)

Once this is all done I suggest backing up the pda memory to the SD card. This means that if ever you lose your data again, you can just restore it from the SD card.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that, as you say it would be a good idea to back up the pda to the sd card or even my lappy.

Cheers
