I got my GPS and software at Xmas so am very new to all this.
After a lot of playing with it to learn how to use it and using it on silly short journeys where I already knew the way, I fully charged my receiver and it has been in the car waiting for me to have a need of it.
I tried to use it today and although I had left the receiver off, there was no charge left. It had been in the car not used for about 10 days.
Does the received lose charge even when not being used?

In a word, yes. Batteries do lose power over time even when not used.
What is your receiver that you are talking about? Is it a bluetooth GPS receiver or your pocket pc, or something else?
Certainly with my ipaq if I haven't used it for about 3 days I'll put it in the charge mount even if I don't need it, just to keep the battery topped up. |

It is the GPS receiver that came with my TomTom software. I was surprised that it had lost charge as it wasn't just not being used, it was actually turned off.

If I were you I would keep it plugged into your power adapater on your car until the time you need to use it, that way it will be fully charged and ready to go.
One reason I went for a CF rather than a bluetooth solution was the extra hassle of having to power the GPS receiver. |
