Just purchased my iCN 510 and tried updating the software. My screen is frozen with the Navman Car with SmartST V3. Nothing happens. Tried a couple of resets and still nothing. I can install maps onto the SD Card but GPS does not work. What should I do?

Activesync connects and screen pop-up on iCN 510, but the touchscreen don't respond.... HELP Please before I return the unit...

What happens when you cold reset?, eg battery switch off, then on. Try without an sd card in slot, then re-do with sd card in?. report back the results.

if icn still freezes, then test the memory. This is done as follows.

Switch off icn with battery switch. then on the navigation wheel hold the down arrow whilst switching the unit on again, it is vital that the down arrow is being held. You will enter a screen with about 6 options, select option one (memory test), this will check processor and memory, let run for about 5 mins. then stop and switch unit off. if there is a failure within the test, phone navman support for assistance. If no failure, its likely that the software load has corrupted. You can get a blank SD card and reload the entire software from supplied cd, via pc. I wouldn't attempt the reload onto supplied SD. This is easier with an eternal reader/writer device than to the ICN, but it is possible to write to card in the ICN. (deleting and clearing does not seem to be terribly easy within the ICN opsys as supplied). Why use a blank SD, so that the supplied card can be examined after you have the unit running again.

Report back here.

NOTE When using the test outlined above DO NOT USE ANY OTHER FUNCTION WITHOUT CONTACTING NAVMAN SUPPORT........

Embarassed Have you tried turning off the battery at the back, then resetting, if you have return the unit and get a new one.

Good Luck

As a final resort, try a hard reset.

Press and hold the Home button.
The message 'Reset Device?' will display. Tap Yes
Using the stylus press the Reset on top of the unit.

If it still wont play ball, take it back for a warranty replacement.

Tried memory test and no problems. Soft and hard resets do not work. Must be corrupt software. Should I attempt with SD card install or return unit?

I would contact Navman support, they are pretty good and can often get you out of problems on the phone, but I would phone them whilst you are at the pc with unit plugged in etc.

I had the same problem yesterday myself while updating the software. Found the way to resolve it was to plug it back into the pc, run the software update again (even though you cant see anything else on the device) and then it all worked fine. Must have been a glitch during the upgrade process.

How can I do this? My iCN 510 shows messaga " Applcation Load Error", but memory test seems fine. Where is exactly the entire program on CD. Which files do I have to copy to blank SD card?
