|
|
Hi,
Newbie here. I have found that the ICN510's postcode's are not very accurate. If you enter the full 5 digits, it normally says "No results found"
Is this normal or are there newer maps?
Thanks in advance |

The maps and postcode data shipped with the 510 are the latest available to Navman, or at least from Navman. Can you post an example, bearing in mind that Navman's postcode field accepts upto five characters? _________________ Tim |

Hi,
If you try "E6 5ZJ" or "E12 5PP" they dont work. No match found. If you enter E12 5 then it gives u a large list. Cannot not be specific.
The above are examples I can remember. I tried a postcode in Westminister and it did the same. |

OK, E6 5ZJ will not work, the best you can get is E6 5. You can put in the first part of the postcode, then the first character of the second, hence upto five characters. My parents' postcode is LE15 7XX, and if I put in Le15 7, then the name of their road, it picks it straight away. I don't know exactly what Navman claim, but postcode search depends on knowing the name of the road, too, as far as I can tell. _________________ Tim |

I just think that post code search should be the easiest as a road only has ONE code so they just have to get the data from the same place the postel service do |

Actually, many roads have two or even more codes, and it's possible that the data that the Post Office use is copyright; if this is so then that data would have to be licenced, thereby increasing the cost of the product. Most products of this nature only use the upto five character input limitation. _________________ Tim |

...but here is an offering from the AA which does claim full postcode search. It claims that this feature is unique. _________________ Tim |
