First Question - Which Software for PPC?

I am new (obviously) to the GPS world, and I have been trying to find side by side reviews of multiple products (primarily Mapopolis, TomTom v4 [USA], and CoPilot 5) without much luck. I have combed the board looking for opinions, and now I'm going to ask - what makes the better product? Is it feature set, interface, logic, or ?? Finally, what's your personal product of choice? Thanks!

There is no TomTom V4 USA - maybe you mean TomTom Navigator 2004.

Mapopolis is for the minimalist who needs exact addresses, CoPilot is for the professional route planner (and optimizer) and TomTom in it's 2004 incarnation is for average, first time GPS users.

There is no one best system out there, it is much more important for you to understand what YOU expect from such a system. Only when you are clear about that you can make a decision what to go for. Other people's opinion (including mine) on what the best system is is just too different to be helpful.

Thanks for the correction - I do indeed mean TomTom Navigator 2004. What I expect is an interface that is easy to interpret and read, an accurate (relatively speaking) accounting of both major and minor roads, and the ability to re-route automatically in the even of a change. I have seen this functionality with Mapopolis' downloadable trial - however, I spoke to TomTom sales and they do not offer any such trial and neither does CoPilot so i can't evaluate the differeent products myself. that is why I need other people's opinions. Thanks for the quick feedback!

We keep hammering the vendors to provide trial versions, but this is an uphill battle. CoPilot may have it in the next release, TomTom - don't know.

We at Pocket GPS World are conducting user meetups - either regular or spontaneous where we do exactly that - give users the opportunity to play around with all systems, try them out, and allow you to compare between the available solutions.

If you update your profile and let us know where you are maybe we have a forum user who lives close by and is willing to show you his/her system.

I appreciate the help - I have updated my profile as suggested. I would like to learn more about TomTom and your "TomTom in it's 2004 incarnation is for average, first time GPS users" statement. Does that mean that it is not as accurate as Mapopolis, or that it is simply designed to have a small learning curve? I understand that CoPilot is the most advanced of all the products, but for $250 US I would expect that.

Hi I work in the Norfolk/suffolk area, quite rural, often house names rather than numbers. I have read this forum and I am totally confused !!

Is there anyone who travels a similar area and would recommend a software. Currently I am looking at navigator 3 but if this is not so accurate, what is if any.
