Hi,
I'm using the HP iPaq 2200 in conjuction with the Holux GR-230 BT receiver.
Any recommendations as to which map software is best for my equipment configuration?
I have thus far considered, Mapopolis, iGuidance and TomTom.
Most of my GPS usage would be in NW USA and SW Canada.
Thanks for any help in making my decission.

Paulskie

Hi Paulskie

TomTom and Mapopolis both run fine on my setup (see signature below), though TomTom wasn't fully reliable until I moved the maps from the SD card to the CF card. Don't know iGuidance but have had a quick look at their website and its stated requirements suggest that it would be fine too. So the hardware shouldn't be an issue, as long as you have a decent size/quality CF card.

Look at other points of comparison, such as how good their map coverage is (anything using Navteq is generally seen as having the edge over anything using Teleatlas, in the UK at least), or whether you prefer brief instructions in a human voice (TomTom) or longer, more precise ones in a synthesised voice (Mapopolis). Posting a question along those lines in the Beginner's forum might elicit more helpful responses!

Hi Barry,
Thanks for your valuable reply. I do have a 512mb SD card and would like to keep using that instead of going to CF card. So perhaps Mapopolis or iGuidance is the way to go. I had look at the Mapopolis web site and found their map organization and download process somewhat strange and confusing. Some users on different forums have also mentioned that Mapoplis is "behind the times" in their map handling. So, I Guidance is looking best thus far.
Also thanks for pointing out that there is a 'beginners' section. I will visit it.
