I'm not a TomTom user, but I'm sure there will be one along shortly!

For each camera type there are .csv, .ov2, and .xls files, depending on which file type your software will import. There is also a .bmp.

The camera types are:

Continental : Cameras in Continental Europe (this may only cover France at the moment, I'm sure someone (Oldie?) will correct/confirm)
Gatso : You've guessed! These include other fixed camera types (Truvelo (SP?), etc.).
Mobile : Common sites for Mobile cameras, either Van's, Tripod mounted or handheld.
Redlight : You've guessed! I believe that some Redlight cameras ALSO operate as speedcameras (Can anyone confirm?) so some cameras have speedlimits.
Specs : These cameras check your average speed over a distance. There will be 2 or more (obviously), usually overhead. If your average speed between any 2 cameras exceeds the limit, you're nicked. Becoming more common.
Temp : For fixed cameras that have been placed for a fixed period of time, usually for roadworks.

There is an excellent website (that I can't find at the moment!) that gives pictures of the different camera types.

The cameras all started off in one database without speed limits, and all of those have been marked as Gatso. They are gradually being moved into the other databases as WE, the users, update the info. If you have any cameras in your area that are in the wrong database, don't have a speed recorded, or don't exist at all, please update the details to cameras (at) pocketgpsworld.com and Richard (Oldie) will update the files for the next release. Check in this or the Speedcamera forum for details on how to record the locations, using your software.

You've got the description of the various files correct.

I am not aware of any combined speed and red light cameras in the UK; if people report speed limits for these cameras they'll be added to the database, but the only red light cameras I've come across, are, I believe, red light only.

If anyone can produce information that contradicts this, I'd be interested.

I think the confusion maybe that when you jump the lights you get "flashed". When you receive the notification from the authorities it does tell you the speed you were travelling when you went through the red light, but from the instance I've seen from a relatives notification even though they were over the speed limit they only got points/fine for jumping the lights, this was about 6 years ago though.

HI Thanks for the very imformative replies. Is it possible to delete the continental cameras from my phone then, or does the database depend on them?

Also i have driven thorough couple of lights today with cameras on top, and i was not alerted to them, does that mean they are not red light cameras, but something else?

If its the case that they are red light cameras, but they are just not listed, how do i get the location information to send you, is it just the case of getting the name of the roads and nearest junction and then sending to you, or do i make a favourite of it by taking a gps postion of it, if thats the case someone will need to tell me how to retreive the actual gps postion from the favourite as i cant see how to do it on Tom Tom Mobile.
