8O I am using the original Navman 3000 version 2.1.1 upgraded with the SmartSt Pro software. Thanks to the grat idea by Onbashi I am using an aluminum foil to improve TTFF. Still, I am not quite happy with it and I am contemplating getting a 3450 and also an external antenna due to the heat-reflecting windscreen in my car. But not much happens as I notice at Navman right now (ferries are my pet gripe!) and I feel like throwing good money after bad...
I have just read about the HOLUX GM270 receiver which is not much more expensive than just a re-rad antenna, and the HOLUX sells with an external antenna in the box!
Can my SmartSt software be used with the HOLUX and if so - is HOLUX the way to go?

Unfortunately no. If you've purchased the Navman 4400, then the software comes unlocked and you could use the software, but if you have the upgrade from the Navman 3000 or even the software from the GPS 3400/3420/3450 then you can't use this with anything other than Navman's sleeve.
