|
|
I've got an Emtac GPS Sleeve for my iPaq 3830, but when I put in a CF card into the sleeve I get the message "Unrecognized Card" and it prompts me to enter a device driver for this card.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and found a way to solve this ?
I'm using a Viking 256mb CF card. |

That's strange. It should recognise the memory card without a driver. Have you tried File Explorer to see if you've got access to the card there? Also try another CF memory card as it might be corrupted.
I'm using the Emtac jacket with a CF WiFi card with no problems but I had to install a driver for that. |

Hi,
Make sure it is plugged in the right way up. When I first got mine, I plugged in the CF card with the coloured printe label visible and got that message. It should be with the back visible and unfortunately it is possible to put it in either way up. |

Thanks for the info.
Thats exactly how I inserted the card, with the label visible
Unfortunately the CF card is stuck fast into the slot and I've had no luck in removing it
Does anyone have any handy tips on removing a stubborn CF card ? |

My CF card has a sort of ridge on one of the exposed ridges which if it is inserted the wrong way, will be against the body of the GPS unit. You may be able to prise it out by levering it out carefully with a small jewellers screwdriver or some hooked object inserted behind the card. Not easily done but I succeded. Hope this is of help. |

If you have a little part of the card showing then stick some cellotape to it, put pressure on the tape (part of the card) and then try and pull it out that way.
I always put a piece of folded up cellotape onto my CF cards (and MicroDrives) before inserting them into slots as CF Type II cards (aka MicroDrives) are impossible to get out once they're inserted. |

Thanks for the tips !
I tried the screwdriver method and a small lump of plastic broke off the CF card
I'll give the sellotape method a go, fingers cross ! |
