newbie with navman PiN - HELP!

just bought a navman Pin, which is great so far, sat nav works a treat, but I'm having trouble getting my head round connecting to the internet with it.
The destruction manual says its all fairly straight forward, but I have no idea how to actually make it happen. can anyone give me idiot proof destructions as to how i can connect it to internet without it being attached to my pooter? do i need a seperate ISP for it as home pooter is broadband, can i connect just using gps reciever or do i need to buy summat else as well? i really dont have a clue. help me please?

To connect to the internet when not connected to your PC you'd need either a cellphone which you would connect via iR or cable to the PiN or a WLAN SD Card to connect to a Public Wireless HotSpot. You cannot get internet access via GPS.

ok, my mobile phone is a sony ericsson P900, that has an infrared port can i use that? and how?
like i said i really am clueless about setting this stuff up.
