Does the TT3 GPS driver use EGNOS? If so, how do I know?
When I have checked I can only see that it gets a 3D fix
But when using the Emtac GPS utility it shows 3D+DGPS
I have beein setting the SBAS to AUTO, which I believe will enable
EGNOS (feel free to correct me if Im wrong)
But will the TomTom GPS drivers reset the setting I have done with the Emtact utility?
IPAQ H5450, Emtact GPSJAQ, GPS driver 3.03
Most of the time it will find between 6 - 9 sat's |

EGNOS/WAAS happen in the receiver. The TomTom GPS driver may not be able to display this condition (of a DGPS fix) but it will still use the improved accuracy because that's coming directly from the receiver.
You will need other programs to know if you have a DGPS fix, but you will benefit from it with TTN also. _________________ Lutz

That said, TTN3 is a Navigation program, the faster you drive the more inaccurate GPS becomes in terms of meter level accuracy so unless you are walking on a non-snap-to map (which TTN3 doesn't support) then you won't see that much benefit from using EGNOS/WAAS (SBAS) with TTN3.
SBAS will give you accuracy down to under 3m as opposed to the under 15m from regular GPS, and in most cases you will not see any enhancement unless there are two roads within 15m.
EGNOS/WAAS really comes into it's own when used for flying and also when used with non-snap-tp-road maps, e.g. Topographical maps. |
