CTIA Wireless 2007, Orlando, Florida : What is wireless to you...

CTIA has two shows a year, one in the spring, and one in the fall. The spring show focuses on infrastructure, and systems, whilst the fall show features more content and software. Both of the major mapping companies are present at the event with Navteq holding it's American LBS Challenge event at the show.

CTIA Wireless
CTIA's spring trade show is the premier venue for all things wireless! This trade show has the distinction of being the largest and most comprehensive in the industry. If it has to do with wireless it can be found here.

CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment
CTIA's fall trade show is the largest industry event whose sole focus is on the emerging role wireless data plays in the realms of Enterprise and Entertainment. America’s businesses are putting wireless to work, and it’s making them more productive and efficient than ever. Also, the growing world of wireless entertainment, such as music, video, and games, is on center stage at this annual event.

Day one starts at CTIA.

Well the CTIA conference starts at 9am, but the exhibition hall doesn't open until 11am. I thought I was going to get a bit of a lie in and meander up to the Conference Center by 10am. Well the best laid plans of mice and men...

As I was approaching the area of the conference center I was informed by some very helpful signs that "WEST PARKING LOT FULL" so I had to use the south car park. Not a problem as the two sections were connected by a walk way and there was a shuttle between the two.

Wrong. The two were connected but the distance from where I parked the car to the press registration area was nearly a mile and there were literally hundreds of people waiting for a shuttle, and (you guessed it) no shuttles in sight!!!

So off I set to walk, in 83 degree heat, to make my way to the correct conference center. 15 minutes later I reached the entrance only to find that I needed to walk for another 5 minutes to get to the press room. Once registered I grabbed a show guide and started marking out the companies I wanted to visit. The show is massive, rows numbered 10 to 6000 and 10 to 20 booths in each row... I needed to do some careful planning.

Whilst I was going through the list Lutz sent me a message requesting that I look out for the new HTC Shift that was announced at the show. I searched and searched but couldnt find the device. I thought that maybe while walking the halls it would turn up. So begins day one...
