Hello all, this is my first post. I have read several topics and found them very helpful, thank you.
I am considering buying the Medion MDPPC250 from Halfords, currently £349.99 (and you get a £10 voucher, so £339.99). Am I right to assume, having read some of the threads, that this unit supports SD IO ? The model on the box says it is the MD 41584.
Can I use this out of the car by connecting the receiver and use it while walking, or does it also have to be pluged into the cigarette socket ? ( cant carry the car with me !!!!! ) If I cant then I would consider the Mitac with built in receiver, but the reviews say the battery in not user servicable. How long do the batteries last (not the charge) and can they be eventually replaced and by whom?? or do you just have to ditch the unit?
Any help gratefully received, Thanks, Jack |

Before you buy from Halfords, read the "retailers to buy from or avoid" forum. You should get a better deal through http://globalpositioningsystems.co.uk and they are great.
You will be able to use most setups out of car for a while. Iuse my Tomtom bluetooth with the receiver in my pocket when I am wanderin in unfamiliar towns. Set a favourite to where you leave the car and then go wander.

Thank you Andrew. I am in two minds about what to buy.I'm now looking at the Tom Tom Go for two reasons, firstly I read in a forum that the maps included the M6 Toll road ( this is a road I will be using ) and secondly, it can be connected to play through the car speakers.
However, again the battery is in-built. Can it eventually be changed ?????
Have looked at the site you mention, http://globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/
and in fact I am considering getting the TomTom Go from them.
Decisions, decisions decisions, and its not Monday !!! ( I joke and say I only make decisions on a Monday - not true of course.)
Thanks for your reply |
