Still work on iPhone and using with CarPlay?

Does the app still work on iPhone on iOS 14 and work with CarPlay? Can it run in background all the time and just alert you when driving without any route planned?

It hasn’t been posted in over 3 years now so I’m wondering if it’s still functioning and/or will ever get updated?

Wow! There is a deafening silence on this subject!
I have just tried CamerAlert on Carplay and it is not compatible with the main Carplay app; it doesn't show-up on the list of apps.
Some time today I'll try it as a pure app on the iPhone while using Carplay and post the results.
Getting CamerAlert running as a native Carplay/Android Auto app would likely produce more subscribers to the database. After all, many cars have one (or both) of these systems now and who is going to subscribe to a car-related speed camera database that does not run on your car system?

I've just been out and tried CamerAlert with Carplay.
You can start CamerAlert directly on the iPhone in the usual way. It will then display on the phone screen but the warnings will be given over the car stereo system.
Seems to be OK but the app did close first time around, only working on a second try. Hope this is what you need.
I don't use Android, so can't comment on the Android Auto system.

The Apple Car play system only allows certain apps to be displayed. This is solely down to the reason that Apple control their ecosystem. If you scroll down to the bottom of the below Apple Car Play link you will see what apps car play supports...
