Posted: Mon Aug 24, 2020 12:57 pm Post subject: BLUETOOTH AUDIO ISSUE - HELP PLEASE |
|
|
Hi
I'm running Cameralert on a Pocophone F1 mobile. It's Audio Announcements are set to Bluetooth Headset.
My car is a VW Golf & when Cameralert gives it's first announcement it comes through the cars audio system just as expected however every announcement after that comes from the mobile phone even though the Audio Announcements is still set to Bluetooth Headset.
This happens each time I try to use Cameralert, the app was on the same mobile when I had my previous car & it worked fine.
With that in mind it points to the fact that the app doesn't like linking with my cars audio for some reason.
One thing I do notice though is if I try altering the announcement sounds say from male voice to female voice the sounds comes through the cars audio for each sound I change every time.
Also I don't have any other issues connecting Bluetooth items to the car.
Please can anyone help me resolve this, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You |

Try the alternative app Speedtrap Alert.
It also uses the PGPSW database and also plays through the car system. It's a bit more complicated to setup and update the database but some of us have been forced down this route because the Samsung x10 series won't run CA.

Cheers for that Kremmen.
I actually did download Speed Trap Alert today but wasn't sure how to link my pocket gps account to it.
I'll check it out more though.
Many Thanks |

You don't link your PGPSW account to STA. You download the database from the downloads page and install it in STA on the phone. |

Cheers M8TJT.
Understood. Will try it out.
Is CA no longer being supported? Is that why it's not working with current Android Software?
Many Thanks |

Seems that non of the developers care enough even to answer questions about CA. If it doesn't work on your phone, then don't hold your breath for it ever working. Shame really as it is a really good solution.
STA comes in a very close second best. And the developer, Leo, is actively open to suggestions and is in attendance here as well. |

Thanks M8TJT.
That's a shame to hear but good to know there's an alternative that's decent out there

Well, tried Speed Trap Alert. Looks good but after changing every settings I can find I've not been able to get any audio announcements through my cars head unit.
Using the Quick Text option in the app I can get audio through my phone but having followed all the online instructions regarding Bluetooth connection I carn't get any audio through my cars head unit.
Anyone got any suggestions Please?.
Thanks |

If there is an audio issue with both CA and STA then there is something else wrong.
My setup forces the bluetooth alerts to be a pseudo short phone call and is briefly displayed on the headunit as such.
Are you getting any headunit visual changes when an alert tries to trigger? If so then it could be that the volume level is too low.
I had a similar issue and the solution was to trigger an alert and raise the bluetooth volume on the headunit whilst it was playing. _________________ DashCam:

That for replying Kremmen.
I know what you mean about the headunit showing the connection when a warning was being sent & I used to get that when I was using Cameralert. Stil do for the first alert as stated earlier.
No such thing shows on the headunit with Speedtrap Alert though.
As it's a little bit more involved setting up STA I wondered if it was just me getting the apps settings wrong?
My Pocophone F1 works absolutely fine with the Bluetooth connection for phone calls through my cars hesdunit.
I'm still on the trial version, could that be the reason?
Any further suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

STA free works just fine.
The only setting that should be needed is the "Enable hands-free mode for voice alerts" which is in the STA bluetooth section. _________________ DashCam:

Ok mate, thank you.
I'll set it as that & check it out.
I think I'll also delete & re pair my mobile to the head unit.
Fingers crossed.

Ok. So I've set up the app with those settings.
I've also re paired the mobile to the headunit & also completely reset the cars headunit to factory settings.
The only thing I can get is the very first Announcement will come through on the cats audio but all the ones after that only comes through the phones audio. This is the same as CA
I do get the headunit showing as if the announcements are coming through the headunit, like a call is coming through & then ending but just no audio.
I don't know what to do know as with w separate apps doing the same thing suggests it's my cars headunit that's the issue or a setting in my mobile phone that's not correct but as I've said the mobile phone for calls works fine over Bluetooth.
Any further advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers |
