Whilst touring in Oz the hire car I had was a Hyundai i30. Very impressed just how seamless Android Auto was for Navigation. Used Google Maps with pre downloaded data. Easy as falling off a log. Then we flew to Perth...got Car number three. Late at night at the airport the guy thought he was doing me a favour. I paid for a bog standard car and had gave me a brand new Toyota Camry. It was beautiful but had no satnav. That was when I found that unlike Hyundai in a Toyota even a AusDollar 35k car it didn't support Android Auto. So my wife had to read the phone screen and help navigate. Moral of the tale Toyota need to get with the program and support Android auto.

Honda are the same. It's taken them 4 years to fix most of the bugs on the much criticised clunky Honda Connect unit.

They had a perfectly good Alpine manufactured device in earlier models then they switched to a cheapo unit in 2015 which was constantly crashing, rebooting and wiping user settings back to factory default. Not what you want when on the motorway and find you have your SatNav route wiped and no preset radio stations.
It's still based on Android 4 and is locked down to a few Honda apps.

That unit was the reason I didn't get a new Civic in 2016.

have you tried Waze apknite? It is great for more than getting me where I want to go. It keeps me informed about emergent hazards.
