Nice, innit. My GO520 Nav 2 device took only moments to update UK&ROI (after ages of me trying to get Home to work since they now make it a dreadful business to connect for Nav 2 devices).
So, minutes for decades old GO520, and in the meantime, GO6200 - that's the all singing, all dancing current top of the range WIFI model, has been loading Europe for 40 minutes and is now up to 36%. So much for progress! Lifetime free maps of everywhere, so long as you have a lifetime to wait for them to download!
In the meantime, over a week ago, Renault released TT map Western Europe v1011 on 25th November, which I duly paid for and went to download, but it's all gone base over apex - again. That's an upgrade from v1000 - and some of you ask why I run more than one, well it's because all three give me different results!! _________________ Dennis

Now there's a question. Belief is not an option. What I need is to have the one which I want, namely...
All the features on the Nav 2 GO520
TomTom HD Traffic
Good sized screen built in to my van's dashboard
Remote control to help with my short arms and distant device.
The GO520 is ideal, only lacking HD Traffic, even the smaller size screen I can cope with. But it's dying. The power switch is dodgy - either fails to turn on, or goes into reboot mode more times than not. I have taken to disabling the battery-saving feature to switch off when power lost, because it would then take me ages to get it on again. The screen calibration has gone off and no matter how hard I tried with that X/Y stuff, I have not been able to get it right and the only way of operating it is by the remote control, which has some feature limitations compared with the touchscreen operation. My map update service subscription expires 19th May 2019, so after that I shall retire it. _________________ Dennis

I have just downloaded the v1020 map onto my 750 Live which took about 1hr 20min. When I disconnected it rebooted at least 5 times - I don't remember it doing that previously. Upon checking if the v1020 had downloaded fully (it had) I found that there is only 58Mb left on my 4Gb card. Would I be right I in thinking that the 750 won't download the next map (I only have 1 or 2 left on my subscription)?
Are there any files that it does not really need and could be deleted from the card?

Obviously maps do get larger as more new roads etc are added but you can save some memory by deleting all but the cspeech_GBR.dat and maybe also some voices you don't use? |

A couple of days ago I updated my iPhone's TomTom iOS GO Mobile full Europe map (with 3D buildings) from 1015.9098 to 1020.9238.
The new map (1020.9238) is 8.6 GB, although it needed 10.46 GB to install. _________________ Robert.

How big is your card?
I have a 950, although its whereabouts are currently unknown and I haven't updated it for a few years.
I used a large capacity (micro?[*]) SD card that would allow me to have three or more versions of the European map as you just need to edit a file to enable you to have multiple versions of the same maps. I normally ran with the latest map version but I could easily swap to an earlier one to check differences for myself or for somebody else on the forum if they had a query about changes between map version.
Apologies for the vagueness. It's a long time since I have used and updated the 950 and that was with Windows. I now use a Mac.
So to recap:
1. If you don't already: move maps to a card
2. Use a larger card (I think that I used a 32GB card[*])) but others will confirm the max capacity card a 950 will take.
Regards,
[*] Edit
I have found my TomTom GO Live 950:
1. It does use a micro SD card
2. The micro SD card capacity was only 8GB and not 32GB! _________________ Robert.

You're welcome.
Please note the edit to my previous post as I have now found my TomTom GO Live 950 PND and I've found that it only used an 8GB micro SD card which is big enough to allow me to have about three different versions of the European map on it.

Thanks again Privateer. It's not worth me getting a new 8Gb card for my 750 now as I shall have to get a new satnav after April 2019 due to my subscriptions for map & traffic terminating! I haven't seen any signs of new Tom Toms yet. jack. |

I haven't seen any signs of new Tom Toms yet. jack. | There are people driving around today with maps which are not up to date - even still using the original map they came with some years ago. TomTom's sales blurb says 15% of roads change every year, but funnily enough, nobody seems to get lost or not get 'there'. Be aware that your 750 is way better than anything TomTom have been selling since they stopped selling it. My GO520 is three models earlier than your 750 and it's still better than the latest ones, the only things it lacks are Traffic and immortality. _________________ Dennis
