New "Super" average speed cameras have arrived on the streets of the UK. They have been rolled out on the main route into Plymouth city centre.
As well as capturing those that exceed the speed limit, they can now more easily record motorists who smoke, eat or drink whilst driving.
They can also monitor whether you are using a mobile device or not wearing a seat belt.
Captured images from the LED infrared equipment (they work day and night) can be used against those who are being prosecuted for careless driving.

Just another way to monetarily punish motorists yet rape gangs run rampant throughout the country.
No respect for the police now.
The UK motorist is their and the governments biggest cash cow and they will take ANY opportunity to cost us more. This has NOTHING to do with safer driving but everything to get money and otherwise wholly innocent people on some uber criminal database.
Rant over. Sorry, not sorry. |

In your opinion then it's OK to speed, be on a HH mobile, etc. These are the actions of wholly law abiding citizens? I don't think so.
Just because it's easy to detect the law breakers doesn't mean that they are being persecuted. Avoiding being 'monetarily punished' is easy, otherwise any monetary punishment is entirely self inflicted so should not be whinged about.

Agree
I've been driving for many decades and it's only in the last few that driving standards have dropped to an all time low with many more incidents of bad and selfish driving on the increase.
Where there are average speed zones they are a far more pleasant places to be IMO. _________________ DashCam:

What about other bad driving habits such as tailgating, central lane hogging, undertaking, aggressive driving, etc.?
How is this monitoring done? Is a person sitting and watching the screen all the time or is there a software algorithm that can achieve this?

Just another big brother watch to monitor everyone, why not place a microchip as dogs have then they would not have to waste money on cameras everywhere. The UK really is a Soviet state, even Russians get more freedom than we have.
Driving is no fun anymore, one spends more time looking for obstacles, the camera's, speedometers, and everything else its hard work going anywhere with roadworks on every road, UK must be the cone capital of the world, the person who invented cones must be a multi-millionaire. Driving has changed so much in the last 10 years.
No other country has as many roadworks causing congestion and delays than the UK. Where we live its taken them so far, and it's not finished yet, over 8 weeks to change a footpath to a cycle path its about 1/4 mile in length. No cyclists will even use the path its so remote and the road is coned off causing tailbacks. The council workers start at 0830, sometimes nowhere to be seen and finish at 3pm, and they say public sector workers are hard done by!!
Things will never change for drivers, we are treated very badly by the government and other organisations as cash cows. |
