|
|
I had this problem last year and now have come across it again this year. I have been given a pre planned route for a car rally in Holland, it has come in a gpx file. If I put the gpx file in the GPX folder of my Nuvi 2569, turn on unit and go to Apps and trip planner, the gpx file is there. There are about 100 points on the route and it is 103kms in total, with stop off points. I have 2 options on the right side of the screen, Map and Go. If I select Map, it shows me where all the markers are on the map. When I used Go from this page last year, it tried to route me as the crow flies and not along roads. I also had to manually move from one point to the next.
I have tried looking in the menu button and there are several options, one of which is to optimise order. If I try this setting, it knock the route down to 20 miles, but I am also asked to select each next destination manually.
Once installing this file, how can I get it to run automatically? i.e. Press go and be routed with spoken/ visual instructions from start to finish as I would if the unit had created it?
Very confused. T

Reading gpx files from 3rd parties can cause issues as unfortunately not every gpx file is the same.
In any case the first issue you have is that your device can only handle a route of up to 30 viapoints, so dealing with a route containing around 100 will cause problems. However there are ways around this but it involves importing the gpx file into BaseCamp, and then converting enough of the viapoints to shaping points so that there are then less than 30 viapoints.
The second issue may be that if the route has been created on a map other then your Garmin one, the route may be recalculated and deviate from the route you've been sent. The best way to check if that is the case is to ensure you create a duplicate in BaseCamp, and work on that, so you can compare the original to the new route. If there are then any differences add more shaping points so that the routes match
Once you've done that and sent the file to your device it should then route you automatically around the whole route.
Any queries with that please ask, if you're not familiar with BaseCamp some of the above may not make sense
(alternatively if you can send me the file I'll do it for you, will probably take me about 5 minutes) _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
