|
|
I haven't used my 2589 with cameras on an SD card for some time because I have been using CamerAlert on a dedicated phone. As I am about to need my sat nav for a trip I have download the latest speed camera database onto an SD card but the Nuvi 2589 does not recognise the card.
The card shows the cameras on the PC and also when inserted in the Nuvi and connected to the PC.
The card shows in my 2340 as 'new extras found on card' and in custom POIsso it's not the card.
I've downloaded the database to another SD card with exactly the same result.
I updated the maps recently if that's a clue.
Any suggestions please? Hopefully, it's not faulty contacts in the Nuvi. |

Strange. Are you sure the card is fully inserted? If so then as it works in your other nuvi it would seem to be an issue with your card slot _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thank you both. It's sorted after a flash of inspiration
After doing a full reset and inserting the card the "new extras found" message appears and the Custom POIs tick box appears in the Proximity Alerts setting.
It seems that, as usual, on a previous occasion I had chosen not to install the card to the Nuvi and selected "do not remind me again" so this choice was retained.
I don't understand why the Custom POIs tick box was not in the Proximity Alert setting before the reset. I never transfer the card to the device but am sure that the option to select Custom POIs was always there whenever a card was removed and reinstalled (I switch EU and UK SD cards when abroad) but perhaps my memory is playing tricks. |
