OK, UKROI downloaded, installed and tested in under 10 minutes on my GO520 (the one that works, not the new improved one that doesn't). I have set the GO6100 (the new improved TT device that doesn't) going to do its download of Europe - I don't have anywhere I need to go today, so it can take as long as it takes! I'm just going to copy across the v955 postcode files I saved yesterday for the GO520 now. _________________ Dennis

Looks like they're both in, assuming you mean the M8 at Shawhead... |

Updated map through map update service yesterday evening 29/08, then this morning 30/08 received email from TT
TECHNOLOGY IS MOVING FAST Paul
Make your XL Live go further
You and your sat nav sure have been places together. But tech moves fast, and as it’s been around a while, it can’t handle all our new-generation maps.
Here’s a dedicated offer to buy a Single Map Download so that you can drive with the most up-to-date map.
BEFORE £ 34.95
AFTER £ 20.00
Anyone able to explain or am I just missing something obvious _________________ Happy Lexus GS450h owner |

Could be a scam, BEWARE! Check here to confirm your device is NOT still supported by TT https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/topic/name/end-of-life if still supported maybe just trying to get you to buy the latest v995 map at a discounted price? |

Just compare the difference between packing an envelope, cost of envelope, cost of what goes inside envelope and postage stamp against cost of shoving out a marketing blurb to a mailing list of email addresses you already have of people who already have devices which use your maps. You'll probably find it is much cheaper to send junk mail by email rather than snailmail. I would have thought you'd already have received enough junk from TomTom since you registered your XL Live to be well aware they churn out stuff to everybody on their database irrespective of whether or not it is relevant to the recipient - "Get your new map here" is sent out to us all, so I get a lot of emails for all the email addresses I have given them over the years. The Delete button is your friend. _________________ Dennis

Thanks justbrowsing and DennisN I am only too well aware, as you suggest, of TT "hit em all" mail lists. I was a little surprised as my map update service is still active. I like you DennisN have several email addresses registered from when you could only register one device per address. Don't suspect scam just TT's usual uselessness that was my first thought. _________________ Happy Lexus GS450h owner |
