Well my subscription renewal came through this morning, and with no word from the devs regarding a new app for IOS 11, I've decided not to risk renewing.
I have to keep my phone up to date for 2 factor authentication, so I'll have to upgrade to IOS 11 and I don't want to get stuck with 1/2 a subscription that I can't use.
I've really liked cameraalert, it's much better than the build in alert system in the sat-nav and I'll be happy to rejoin if a new IOS app is developed.
Cheers,
Matthew |

I've got a lifetime subscription but its starting to look like its going to be meaningless when iOS 11 comes out. |

Don't you have an old iPhone you can keep in the car just for CamerAlert? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

If old iPhones are now to be recycled to the glove box I'll have to get myself some shares in Apple _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

What else can you do with them then? Surely you don't throw them away? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

They get handed down to the kids, sold or donated to other worthy people / causes, so they remain in circulation and continue to be used as phones. Sticking them in the glove box removes them from circulation and Apple will probably supply the replacement. _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

Cheap and Android!
A multitude of assorted ones on eBay if you consider £30-£50 cheap. |

A lot of it depends on your preference. Cheap to me would be something like an HTC Desire or Samsung J series. _________________ DashCam:

I was thinking something that begins with a £ sign. Not used for anything but CA, payg SIM for data if such a thing exists.
I'd use my existing iPad Pro if only it could be mounted without hassle. _________________ Dennis

I use a 8" Samsung tablet these days for both Navigation and Cameralert. Brodit make a series of mounts for these. The mount for the Samsung was about £100 which I declined to pay and just got a generic Brodit mount for the tablet.
I've used this set up for about 2,000 miles with no problem.
There are also ways of getting free data as long as you aren't using it for hours on end every day.
PM me for details on that and anything else. I think I may still have the Brodit pages bookmarked. |

I agree that Brodit are expensive. DSLDevelopments have a good Brodit search tool. _________________ DashCam:
