May I ask a dumb question?
When I set off, I activate CamerAlert (iPhone) by tapping the app, letting it activate, then letting the phone go back to sleep. Yes?
But how do I tell CA I don't need it anymore, e.g. when I get home?
Told you it was dumb... _________________ Where there's a will - there's me! |

Quit the app... Double click the home button & then slide through displayed apps selecting CA sliding it up & off screen. |

@abre
Well I never knew that! Thank you. Presumably one only has to do that to apps that remain live in the background. _________________ Where there's a will - there's me! |

Yes, iOS sleeps all apps that are not permitted in Apple's app dev rules to remain active in the background. It's a simple power saving function and kicks in shortly after the device screen sleeps or another app is selected. |

I've looked through all the CA bumph and not found any reference to how to properly quit the app. I use it in list mode, so that the app / phone comes alive only when a relevant POI comes up. In other words it looks asleep but isn't. That's why it occurred to me to ask how to definitively quit it. Thanks again - if MaFt is around perhaps he could comment? _________________ Where there's a will - there's me! |

Just done a bit more trawling and found this thread:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=87815
It seems that CA auto-quits after a period of a few minutes of "non-movement" (thought to be 10 minutes), but it's all a bit of a mystery for users as there's no documentation. _________________ Where there's a will - there's me! |
