Garmin have released an update from 2.80 (supplied with devices on initial release) to 3.10.

GE lists 3 key features and we'll never know what 2.90 and 3.00 fixed.

Changelog includes:
Improved Bluetooth features for iOS devices using Smartphone Link
Fixed an issue with Drive display when orientation is changed during setup
Fixed an issue that could cause software instability when searching for multiple postal codes

Garmin have released a fairly major update for the 2016 Drive range including some much needed enhancements to Smartphone Link.

Changes from 3.20 to 3.50 on the DriveLuxe 50 include:

Added support for sorting results by relevance when searching Help pages
Adjusted default settings for Audible Driver Alerts to reduce duplicate alerts
Fixed an issue that could cause dropped Smartphone Link connections with iOS devices
Improved software performance when loading a large number of points of interest in the Saved list
Improved software stability for smart notification and the voice-activated phonebook
Fixed an issue in the Where I've Been app to properly display previous route
Streamlined ZIP file installation to avoid multiple reboots
Improved usability of voice-activated search lists
Improved text display for right-to-left languages
Improved clarity of traffic event icons
Improved parking notification recommendations
Improved Bluetooth features for iOS devices using Smartphone Link
Fixed an issue with DriveLixe display when the orientation is changed during setup
Fixed an issue that could cause software instability when searching for multiple postal-codes

Looking good

I'll more than likely get a DriveAssist with cam in a month or 2.

I wonder why Garmin don't spend a bit of time improving their routeing. That would be a major step forward. Display several routes and allow you to pick which one you want a la iGO. Allow you to 'drag' the route to where you want it a la Sygic. Either of those would be a major step forward. Instead they seem to concentrate on little fairly niff naff 'improvements'.

20% off at Halfords, click & collect only if you give them your old one.

Very tempting.

£250 UK only device for £200ish

What? Improve the routing or display several routes at the same time and let you chose. If the latter, how do you do that? My Honda satnav can do that with 5 different routes displayed at the same time.

My 2013 Honda HDD based SatNav only does 3 to chose from now, used to be 5 I think on the old DVD based SatNav.

Nothing

I just wonder about the fragility of DVD/CD in cars. I've noticed on the Honda forum that some of the early cars units are starting to give issues but they are 10 years old now.

Route shaping basically does just that and is built in to the new Garmin Drives

Whilst deciding whether to get a DriveAssist I've been hunting down reviews. There a few around from people who posted they do high mileage and are impressed with the routeing.

If that is the case and they have improved it surely that will filter down to the pre 2016 units or maybe not to tempt sales.
