Has anyone had any dealings with policewitness.com ?
I've seen lots of suggestions, on the web, that this was nothing but a publicity stunt by their Chairman, but I find that difficult to believe! _________________ Jock

Not that I condone the behaviour of the lorry driver, but if the Special Constable had pulled over to the left lane instead of hogging the middle lane, this wouldn't have happened.

And if he'd been paying occasional attention to his rearview mirror he'd have seen the HGV coming and got out of the middle lane.
I'm surprised the best photo offered of the damage is barely visible scratches. I wouldn't expect an HGV to leave it that lightly. _________________ Dennis

Yeah!
Except that the article makes no mention of PoliceWitness being a commercial enterprise! The Telegraph wrote: | I formed PoliceWitness after I was almost killed by a reckless HGV driver. | makes it sound like he's founded a charity!
It seems odd that the driver in that incident was The Telegraph wrote: | sentenced on October 28 | but the Telegraph have just found out about it! And that the video that the BBC show is date-stamped 11/11/2015, but the BBC only found out about it yesterday!
Mr Stockdale seems to be unusually prone to incidents involving lorries! _________________ Jock

I'd also be asking why was he sitting in the middle lane of a motorway travelling at less than 56mph which I presume the HGV was governed to.
I was always taught to drive defensively i.e. always try to provide a zone of safety around my vehicle and always assume that everyone else on the road is an idiot. I'm not perfect, by any means, but I'd sure as hell make sure that a 56mph truck didn't need to make the illegal manoeuvre of overtaking me in the outer lane of a motorway unless there was real congestion. It does beg the question of a driver travelling at less than 50 in the middle lane with a dash cam looking for trouble ( allegedly)!! |

Looks like we all agree that this centre lane hogger was in the wrong. Let's hope his dashcam lands him a hefty fine. _________________ DashCam:

My wife and I have dashcams (all RoadHawk HD units) in all of our vehicles, so I've looked at that website before. However it's hard to determine the actual cost of membership as several prices are mentioned. There's no sneak preview of the members area so I don't know what you get.

The car was cruising at a such a slow speed in the middle lane that an LGV is able to over take it in the third lane. Why was the car going that slow?
Why did this incident even get reported to the BBC when it involved Matt Stockdale, the chairman of policewitness.com? According to the website, policewitness.com "liaises with the police" so surely that should have been quickly and efficiently delasth with, without the need to speak to media? If things don't move quickly and efficiently for the chairman then how will they work for the ordinary members of policewitness.com?

watching it I thought it was a new style of crash for cash.
Antagonise a lorry driver then cause a collision and blame the HGV
My thought is what ever the lorry had done to pass him it would have caused an incident. deliberately driving slowly in lane 2 when no vehicle are in lane 1. The truck would either pass on the inside or crowd the driver in lane 2.
Pass on the inside and the car decides to go left. crowd and he brake tests. The truck was in a no win situation. |
