I have the Garmin 3597LM with a 4Gb card. The unit has UK and Europe map loaded on to the 4Gb card.
I have purchased USA map download from the Garmin site.
I have bought a 8Gb card to copy all the maps onto.
Can anyone describe the steps I need to take to make the 3597LM and 8Gb the primary source of all maps, poi, voices etc? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 3597LMT |

Just create a Map folder on the card, all the maps should be placed in that. Note it's singular Map and not Maps.
If you want to store POIs on the card create a POI folder.
I've never tried with voices but if they do work from a card again create a folder named Voice ... again note NOT plural.
Ensure before you do that the card is formatted FAT32 (it should be as standard but worth checking) _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

sussamb thank you for the reply.
I understand about creating folders on the new card and as a Mac user FAT32 is also fine.
Can I just then copy the maps from the 4Gb card to the laptop desktop. Then copy them back to the new 8Gb card?
Or does this new card somehow have the maps re-downloaded from the Garmin site?
Sorry if the answer is obvious. I just want to make sure that I do not mess up the transfer. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 3597LMT |

You can just copy the files, no need to download them again. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
