I'm looking for the silent voice htat I know was posted a while back but so far not found it.
I want to see traffic on my route which means plotting the route but I don't want the spoken directions, but, I do want the PGPSW cameras spoken.
I'll keep looking .................... _________________ DashCam:

I know what you're referring to but I think that was a TTS voice file, which may not work on your model of nuvi. Good luck though |

Thanks all
Managed to find one and just need to test it out.
What did make me chuckle was the request on another site followed by a string of posts asking why and had he considered his foolish request. They then advised against it due to various reasons including some lengthy posts.
In my case I already have a good built in unit for directions. _________________ DashCam:

Fail
Every announced turn was a loudish whoosh noise. Had to pull over and turn it off _________________ DashCam:

Mine works fine for me.
Made with Garmin VoiceStudio.
It's not entirely silent. If you've got good hearing, it gives a quiet chirrup now and again.

Definately not a chirrip sound. Was more like white noise. Shame really because the concept is brilliant.
Don't need it again till Sep so time to play.
I'll put it into Adobe Audition and see what that reckons. _________________ DashCam:

What went into the Garmin VoiceStudio was just a 0.5 sec of pure silence per navigation command.
Perhaps the slight noise that can be heard, is caused by the Garmin device in playback, rather than anything in the .vpm file produced by the VoiceStudio. _________________ nuvi 2599LMT-D, oregon 700, basecamp, memory-map. |

OK it's a lot more silent now.
The white noise is indeed inserted by the VoiceStudio, despite my importing pure silence.
Anyway I reduced (to the minimum) the volume of each silent command, and it's now much less audible.
Next job I think I'll trim the clips down from 0.5 sec to perhaps 0.1 sec and test it.
After that I can email it to whoever would like it.

That's it - my Silent voice is now completely inaudible.
Garmin VoiceStudio had unhelpfully inserted a chunk of white noise into each command - even though I had imported pure silence.
So in VoiceStudio I trimmed off the trailing white noise to leave only a most transient clip of pure silence at the start of each command.
On the Garmin device, in Settings - Language - Voice, I can select at will between voices (British English Kate, Serena or James etc) for navigational directions, or Silence so as to hear just my camera warnings and nothing else.
In this way I can follow a route on the screen and I can see any Traffic info along that route, but I do not have to suffer the repetitive spoken directions.
Send me a pm with your email address, if you want a copy by email (549 kb).
