It's a shame I'll never know the outcome.
Got back to my car with about 10 minutes left. Next to where I had parked was a large Range Rover parked over two spaces. Usual thoughts went through my head, mostly bad words.
I noticed further down, in another line, was a CEO, he looked my way, took a few steps forward and then goose stepped towards me. He said, pointing towards the Range Rover, 'That your vehicle'? I just looked at him. He said 'I said IS THAT YOUR VEHICLE'?
Now I just love these jobsworths and said 'Am I obliged to answer you'? 'Yes' he said. I said 'Where are the rules that say that'? He said 'Are you going to answer me or not'? I just stood there with a smile on my face.
He started doing the ticket and as he was a youngish lady appeared and said to him 'What are you doing'? He said 'Is this your vehicle'? and she replied 'Yes'. He looked at me and if looks could kill I wouldn't be writing this.
So he says to her 'You're getting a ticket for not parking within the bays'. She led him to the drivers side and pointed out a valid ticket, then to the passenger side where there was also a valid ticket. She explained the vehicle was new and she didn't want to get it scratched and therefore parked across two bays and bought a ticket for each bay. I could have pee'd myself.
'You can't do that', he said. 'Why not', 'Because you can't'.
She said 'So will you be giving me two tickets'? 'No'. 'But' she said 'for each ticket I bought I've parked outside the bay'. By now it's getting close to the point where I will have to change my underwear.
CEO is standing there dumbstruck, can almost see his two brain cells trying to work out what to do next.
By now my ticket has expired and I didn't want him to notice so left.
I really wonder what the outcome will be. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Although I tend to hate range rovers, this is amusing even from the depths of ManFlu.
Earlier this week one occupied three bays in my local car park. Parked perfectly in the middle one, both sides had wheels about an inch inside the white lines, with bodywork bulging over. Those spaces are barely wide enough for shopping trollies! _________________ Dennis

I think the bays should be at least another 12 to 18 inches wider because even the humble Fiesta and Astra are getting wider over the years not to mention the new Mini. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

But the people who design car parks don't give a toss if you can't get into the spaces with plenty of room. They want to pack as many cars in as poss for max revenue. The width was decided years ago when cars tended to be much narrower. |

Six Degrees of Separation
I'd love to know the outcome of this.
If I mention it to enough of my friends, you to yours and they to theirs, do you think that somehow we may get to contact the driver? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

There's always a chance I may see her again when shopping. I'd recognise her but there are a number of black Range Rovers around here so pity I never thought of getting the reg. no.
Thinking about it, she only had one carrier bag, not much in it, so she may not be a regular. Damn!
If I do find out what happened I'll post here. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

It's almost worth taking up (and paying for) two parking spaces yourself just to see if she set a precedent - but not quite worth it just in case she lost. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Maybe try parking long ways across three bays and buy three tickets. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
