|
|
When Garmin announced the HUD earlier in the year it was the first time in a long time that I've actually thought "wow, finally something to get excited about". But then the cynic in me was saying things like "it's only your speed and directions, it doesn't even show a map" and my optimism dwindled. Once I saw the HUD was available on the Garmin UK website my interest perked up again and I wanted to see if it was just a gimmick or if it was actually a useful peripheral. I finally managed to get my hands on one recently and put my cynicism and optimism to the test.

Several questions:
1) Is it really LEDs? Those colours look very reminiscent of vacuum fluorescent displays
2) Where is the image focused? On the plastic/film or at some distance away?
3) Where have all the PGPSW reviews gone? This is the first one I've seen in ages. |

1) Yes, it's vacuum fluorescent display. Apologies for that - hadn't realised I'd referred to them as LEDs
2) the image is 'sort of behind' the film - does that make sense?!
3) we've not been sent anything for a while. although darren reviewed an in-car camera the other week?

1) No apologies necessary, it was just that the blue-green colour reminded me of my youth
2) Yes, I played with some Google Glasses the other week and it was similar (nightmare if you wear actual prescription glasses)
3) I recall the in-car camera review, but it would be great if you could review more stuff. |

We review stuff we get sent I've got a TomTom GO 6000 to review at the moment.
And Darren is currently acquiring a tracker thingy-ma-bob to review at some point too.
