|
|
C1 or anyone else, please.
Yesterday I had a full car of chatterboxes and realised for the first time that the volume on the navigation instructions was not really loud enough.
I am using Navigon on a Samsung 7.7 tablet.
I have a car radio that can take a bluetooth link. I never use the phone in the car but I guess that is when it is used. This is the radio
http://support.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_CDE-135BT_EN.pdf
Do you think there is any chance of feeding the sound from the 7.7 to the radio - but only wanting it to work when there is a navigation instruction. In other words I want to use my MP3 player plugged into the radio all the time but let Navigon override it when there is a verbal instruction.
I guess the answer is no - but thought I'd ask anyway.

Whilst Googling for an answer I discovered that Navigon has its own volume control.
Mine was set at less than half. Maybe on full I will have my solution.
But linking to the radio would be an interesting idea - though having said that the BT would inevitably reduce my battery life on the 7.7
Yesterday about five hours driving took it from full to 30%.

I've got the same issue n my HTC One whether it's through Bluetooth or through the headphone socket. It's just far too quiet either way.. |

Have you found that hidden volume control?

Do you mean tap the 'next turn' button to make it talk and then turn up the volume on the device?
I couldn't find any other settings in the app for volume.

That's what I meant. I think it works for me now.
Google will show you a deeper fix.

It must be app-related. The audio output is fine from Sygic... I don't suppose you have a link to the 'deeper fix' do you?

This is the thread.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/android-tech-support/85987-facinate-g-nav-volume-too-low.html
I did not get anywhere with it as it starts by telling you to put a sequence into a 'dialler' and my Samsung 7.7 is not a phone so it has no 'dialler'.
Let me know how you get on.
Google suggests it is app related, as you suggest. But, as I say, mine now sounds pretty loud since I have altered the volume whilst the app is speaking.

Is that something that the Parrot system can sort out for you?
IIRC, Mike Alder had one (or something similar which did the same job) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks Andy about Parrot.
I am not sure it will do what I want as muting the sound coming from my Walkman into the Aux socket of my Alpine radio seems to be dependent on the radio getting notification, via Bluetooth, that there is an incoming phone call.
If I managed to get the Bluetooth link between the tablet and the radio to work I don't think a navigation announcement would be adequate. I'll try pairing the 7.7 and the radio and see what happens.
In fact now I have increased the volume coming from Navigon my problem may have gone away. We are taking the car out tonight and that will give it a test.
But if anyone has experience of Parrot then do let me know if you think it is for me.

I've paired the 7.7 and the car radio.
Lovely to hear the dulcet tones of Tim in quadrophic sound all around the car.
Snag is it only works when the radio is set to bluetooth.
My hopes that it would override the music on 'aux' when Tim told me the way to go came to nothing.
Clearly the radio does not think my Navigon announcements are incoming calls. No reason why it should of course.
So I am back to using the inbuilt speakers on the 7.7. I have turned them up a bit more and when I get tired of Tim bossing me about I can always 'mute' the 7.7 - until I get lost and foregive him for pestering me.

It's not me!
Can find Bob and Howard in the voice choices but not Tim! _________________ Tim

You are right. There is no Tim in Navigon.
I was not looking at it when I posted. I seem to remember a Tim from one of the other suites I tested.
He was well spoken and polite - so you are in good company.
Of course I now realise that I could abandon my Sony Walkman and put my playlists on my 7.7. Then I could play it into the Aux socket of my car radio and get stereo music and stereo navigation.
What worries me a bit is that I am banking on running the 7.7 on battery only to save the faff of a power lead. I am not sure whether letting it provide the music would increase the power consumption.
And of course I'd then be snookered when I want to listen to off air radio and use the satnav.
I think I will leave well alone and simply rely on the tinny voice from the 7.7 speakers for satnav and the better sound from the radio for my music.
