Hi Everyone,

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on the issue I am noticing on my TT Unit. I have the TT1005 but I suspect it will affect all Live Traffic users.

Every now and then it will display message at the top of the screen saying alternative route found 3 minutes faster, or as fast or words to that effect. If you touch it it will take that route without showing you anything.

Compare that to another message which covers the whole screen obscuring the map which says it has found a faster route, and would you like to take it with an "Info" option which then shows you both routes from which you can choose, this is much better.

My question is why can you not choose to have the info supplied as the second type, rather than just the banner at the top of the screen which tells or gives you no info about this new proposed route?

I am missing something, from the info banner is there any way to see the route it is suggesting before choosing it?

any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

I did do a search but came up with nothing on this issue,

thanks in advance,

SDM197.

The alternative offered by the banner is shown on the 2D map in the colour of the square in the banner. Tap the bottom left corner to see it, then ignore it or select it.

Hi Henry,

that is great advice, thanks very much, it was driving me nuts not being able to see the new recommendation before selecting it.

thanks again,

I've been complaining to TomTom about this "half-arsed" banner, ever since they implemented it.

There is no way to make a judgement on whether the route is sensible or not - often it is suggesting a one minute saving which actually involves several extra miles travel.

I believe that it should ALWAYS tell you both the time saving and the effect it has on the route length, so you can make an informed decision.

Having to switch to 2D mode and zoom in and out over the entire route to find out what it is suggesting is too dangerous while driving.

The other really annoying thing for me is that if you don't want to take their suggested route, the only thing you can do is ignore the banner and it will then stay on screen for the entire journey (up to the point where you would take the new route), often for hours!

I have to agree with the half-arsed description but I got used to it eventually!

However I have now upgraded to a Go 600 so I have a whole heap of new half-arsed "features" to get to grips with...
