I have bought myself an iPad and I want to find a Tom Tom app that I can put on it. I currently use a GO 530 and I would want it to be at least equal to that.

Apologies if this has already been asked, I did a quick look through and couldn't find anything that referred to iPad as opposed to iPhone.

Also can I use the pgpsw camera warnings on it ?

TomTom do supply an app for the iPAD see Here You can't add speed cameras or custom POI to the iPAD unless it is running iOS5,x as soon as you put iOS6 on it Apple have decided to lock down the file access.
It is possible to add CamerAlert to the iPAD and have that running in the back ground to issue camera warnings. Just a quick check though does your iPAD have a built in GPS receiver as without one neither the TomTom or CamerAlert apps will work - Mike

The one I bought is an "iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G"

I ordered it online and have yet to receive it

edit
I spoke to Apple Support and they say it does have a built in GPS receiver.

Does the app give audible speed limit alerts (Cow, Bell, Polite etc) ?

The CamerAlert App does a damn sight better than cowbells etc. It tells you what type and speed the camera is. Remember, it is a separate, stand-alone App, which will run in the background at the same time as your navigation App

I've not done anything more about this yet, but I have another question.
Can I receive traffic information in any form ? I think not because an i Pad is not a phone, but can anyone confirm this ?

As you have an iPad with 3G you can buy the TomTom HD Traffic subscription within the TomTom app itself.
Loads of info here

It appears the apps are reduced in price at the minute and the HD Traffic is currently £2.49 a month and £20.99 a year...

Normally it's £3.99 a month or £27.99 for 12 months - renewed mine 2 weeks ago at £27.99.... Rolling Eyes

I use the app on my iPhone but your iPad has a 3G connection so it should work as the HD Traffic uses the 3G and has nothing to do with the phone part. The fact it's a NOT phone just means you can't make phone calls..... unless you install Skype app.

I have downloaded the app but it didn't come bundled with HD Traffic, it wants me to pay another subscription, Where can I get it from ?

I have downloaded CamerApp (and updated it) but I'm not getting anywhere near the number of warnings I get from the GO530. Why might that be ?

I have a lot of favorites and additional poi's on my GO530 is there any way to import them ?

How do I make map corrections as I am a taxi driver and I am permitted to use some roads and make turns that the general public are not allowed to.

I understand HD Traffic is an in App purchase, but I haven't got TT on iOS so I'm not sure how it's done.

There could be two reasons for not getting as many camera warnings as on your 530...

1. CamerAlert is directional, so it won't warn for cameras on the other side of the road (except Mobiles which are bi-directional/reversible).

2. Have you selected to be warned for Unverified cameras, the pMobiles?

It didn't say Traffic was bundled. It said it was reduced in price. You buy it "In App" as Dennis said using the TomTom shop icon on the main menu. Then Traffic.

To correct an error Browse map and use the crosshairs to highlight the area you want corrected. Once the road is highlighted the name appears. Click the arrow pointing to the right after the name and select Correct Map Error. Follow from there.

Just a thought ...

If young-goat makes Mapshare changes that are uploaded to the system, but only he and his cabbie mates can legally use the changes, does that not create a problem for us 'normal' motorists if those changes are accepted by TT?

Or are we talking local device changes only without uploading?

Back in the good old days, MapShare used to ask if you wanted to "share this change" so you had the opportunity not to upload them. Doesn't it do that nowadays?

Yes Dennis you have a choice, I was just pointing out a potential problem.

To DennisN

I have selected pmobiles and the directional thing explains the reduced camera warnings. Thanks

To PaulB2005
Thanks for the information, can't work out how not share it though as I don't want to upload stuff that (to most) is incorrect.

Reading back, DennisN answered my question about POI's so I have started inputting the important ones as favorites. However it shows them in the order I have input them Confused How do I organise them alphabetically ?

Blimey, that was clever of me - I have no idea how to put POIs into TT for iOS! I shall give myself a pat on the back.

Maybe you start with A, then B, then C? Or maybe switch off and on to clean it up?

errr yes Rolling Eyes I had thought of that but what happens when I put in another later ? It will go to the bottom of the list and not be alphabetical.

Switching it on and off does not rearrange them
