|
|
Just changed PC and in doing so had to reinstall iTunes etc.
Download all my apps and TomTom on my iPhone 3GS, but the App for the car kit that allows the iPhone 3GS to work with the car kit has been removed from the app store.
What a PITA, now the Car Kit does not recognise the phone and you get a pop up redirecting you to the app store to download the app that dies not exist.
Way to go TomTom another nice bit of kit made redundant.
So anyone out there with the iPhone and official TomTom Car Kit, Beware if you need to redownload your apps from apple this one does not exist any more and if you delete the copy you have you will be left with a useless non working mount. |

Do you still have access to your old PC?
You will be able to copy and paste the .ipa file to your new computer then drag it into iTunes.

Afraid not it was a total HDD failure so the drive was crushed for security and we upgraded to Windows 8, so no access to any of the data from the old one.
What a Pain, I forgot apple removed stuff from the store I fell into the trap of thinking once it was downloaded it was there forever to download again if needed.. |

I didn't think the app was needed? It was there as a test utility only, to verify connection to carkit, I'm pretty sure it isn't required to use the carkit.
My wife used one until only a week or so ago with her 3GS and it's never had the app installed? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Indeed this is correct, there is no need for the app to use the car kit - Mike |

Cheers Guys
When I put the phone in the cradle I get a pop up on the screen saying the Car Kit app is not detected,
Once you close the popup it all works as it should,
I have now managed to find the app in iTunes under previously downloaded apps it was cloud stored and allowed me to pull it again, so all installed now and the popup has gone,
It does look like the only side effect of not having the app was getting the popup saying it was not installed (Go Figure). But all is well again
Thanks for the tips
Cheers |
