One sound fails with UK&ROI map 895.4444

Since updating my map on my tomtom one (1st ed.) to UK and Ireland 895.4444, using Home, I find that I get a few instructions into a journey then the sound fails. Only a push of the reset button restores sound. I have cleared the SD card out and installed from scratch and the problem remains.

Now reverting to the previous map to see if that fixes it. Anyone else seen this problem?

Is the unit connected to the car charger at the time? And is it showing as being connected?

I have seen the problem both connected to the charger and running from battery.
