Thanks Anita. TomTom Places replacing Google - that's it for me, no upgrading for my Live device. I wonder how long it'll be before they force it on me. _________________ Dennis

I've connected my 550 Live to Home this morning, and had the App 9.465 'upgrade'.
The ticky-box selection was greyed-out, and there was no option to deselect the 'upgrade'.
It looks like you will have to accept the new App at sometime, or you will not be able to connect to Home and download your new maps etc.
I can't say I'm happy at losing Google from the 550, but I've not had chance to test Tomtom Places yet.

Don't suppose that v9.465 fixes the problem of displaying 22x22 sized icons? _________________ Robert.

Google search terminates end of October.
Does that mean, even if you do not update the application, it will terminate. I have updated to 9.465 and Google has gone....... _________________ Gee-Pee

Well, I decided what the heck and went for it.
Before connecting I did a google search for Near me, Fish and Chips and got listing 48. After updating I did that search again and got 12 (the first one was wrongly placed, none of the other three nearest to me were listed). _________________ Dennis

Tried the same but they are all listed in the name of the shop, which means nothing to me. There are none listed in my home town (I think) and I would have to go 3.6 miles to the nearest. Even expanding the link to the 'named' chippy does not help and there is no further info apart from some recogniseable street names in the next nearest town. I think I will have to live on curries in the future. _________________ Gee-Pee

I wonder if these shops have to chip in to get a listing in Places? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Oh Dear Dear,
What with all the debacle over Apple iOS Maps and the incorrect POIs on the new version, it looks like we are now getting pushed the same shoddy data from TomTom that is included in the Apple Maps.
Google Works, this other does not shame all around and another nail in the coffin for the TomTom!
If it was not for the fact that its theo nly PND that fits the socket in my car it would have been gone by now,
