This Tom Tom is doing my head in! this is the 3rd tom tom Ive had & this one is crazy!
I have been on to tt Customer srvices, loaded the update www.tomtom.com/386 update the lot.
My problem is, it says i have new updates, & everytime I try to find these updates, it assks me to re download my tom tom, & it wont upload the new things it has for me.
i've deleted tom tom., re installed it, tried all sorts, tom tom support etc etc.
So any help received.
On a positive side, the TT live traffic is brilliant, thats why I got it, I would like to stay with this unit but the updates are slowly driving me nuts.
Please help.

I have tried wiping my tom tom & reinstalling.
It now asks to install my tom tom & doesnt recognise the new dowloads it has for me.
I'm thinking of taking the unit back to Halfords, there has got to be something wrong with it. I've never had this much trouble from a tom tom before.

If the original things it kept offering you were things like MapShare updates, then that's a known bug with MyTomTom, nothing to do with the Go itself.
It's probably worth downloading a copy of Revo Uninstaller, and using that to make sure you completely remove all traces of MyTomTom before re-installing with a fresh download. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I took the unit back to Halfrauds today. The shop chap rang TT & tis IT chap came on the phone & saw my device & admitted there was a problem.
Could I ring him tomorrow from my PC & he;'d tweak something his end on computer.
No replacement offerrred.
I got home this evening & TT had mailed saying they would replace the faulty unit as it was still under warranty & I only bought it in May 2012?
They also admitted they were having teeting problems with TT Go LIve.
I will keep you posted after tomorrow.#

HI Andy, I have actually used Revo to uninstall the TT.
Thanks for replying.

Halfords changed the unit, im afraid im no further forward!!!
It STILL WONT DOWLOAD THE UPDATES ON MY TOM TOM.
One of my customers has had the exact same problem, he returned it to TT & whatever they did to it, it now downloads the updates on my tom tom.
There definitely something wrong with my tom tom!!

Can you please tell us exactly what MyTomTom is saying at each step of the process and at what point it fails to install?
The sort of questions we need you to answer are:
Does MyTomTom say the Go800 is connected?
Are you logged in correctly?
Does it say there are updates available?
What does it say they are?
What is happening on the TomTom screen?
Is there a progress bar in the top right saying things are being downloaded, but they don't get installed?
Or is there no progress at all when you click on "Download"
etc. etc.
Try to be as precise as possible. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Today I finally cracked it!!!!
So new unit, firewall disabled, still no down load my tom tom updates.
I got our IT folk to access my laptop remotely & tell me what they thought was the problem.
They said it doesnt recognise the web & the web does not recognise the laptop.
They said I see you are runiing Windows XP.
Have you another PC in the house with a newer windows version??
Wifelet just got a new desktop with windows 7.
Plugged it in and hey presto!!! all the dowloads done!!!
When i bought the laptop 3 years ago it came with VISTA.
The IT folk reccomeended they put XP on as Vista was rubbish.
so that is why im running an old windows system on the lap top.
So now happy at long last.

Glad you got it sorted!
Just one of those computer mysteries I reckon... I'm still using XP and don't have any problems using MyTomTom (well, not many!) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
