My local paper, the Daily Post, ran this as a headline today.
This particular quote caught my attention... Quote: | Arrive Alive project manager Inspector Essi Ahari confirmed that speeders were now being targeted both night and day.
“All our fixed cameras – or Gatsos – have the capability of detecting offences during the hours of darkness,” he told the Daily Post.
“But about 18 months ago, the North Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership invested in new technology to detect offences in the hours of darkness using mobile cameras.
“Introducing this technology, which allows low light filming, enables us to enforce at all times." | So the camera vans in North Wales can now be there at any time of the day or night.
Be safe out there boys and girls. |

Good ol Brainstrom strikes again! North Wales is my home force (from Llandudno originally) but I'd be very suspicious of those claims.
I don't doubt they have the capability but do doubt they would deem it safe to use in many locations. Camera vans have to be able to target a vehicle accurately, poor light conditions make this very much more difficult to do so without risk of error. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hmm, so the implication is that camera vans don't work during the night then? _________________ Gone fishing! |

Technically? Probably, Practically? Very unlikely. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The North Wales Arrive Alive team are now using cameras at night.
A mate was caught around 11 PM (he said it was dark) at Mobile location 8193. He has the paperwork to prove it.
Take care! |
