On the information for the nulink 2390 it states the following

Quote:
Live services including:
- 3D Traffic Live
- Google Local Search
- Fuel prices
- Safety cameras
- Weather and more
- PhotoLive Traffic cameras [30-day trial]

Does anyone know how I can tell if the database is being updated

also the garmin website says I must purchase the 'Cyclops™ Safety Cameras — U.K. and Ireland' which is a bit stupid if it's supposed to come with safety cameras for 1 year

When I got my 2200 I noted that the supplied Cyclops database was named UKIrelandCyclopsSample.GPI

This was a one off trial that would expire a month or two after the unit was first turned on.

What made me remove it almost immediately was that all it delivered was a very quiet 'bong'. Hardly enough to alert you to a camera unless the unit is directly in your line of vision for the graphics. Plus it wasn't very accurate in my neck of the woods.

In the sql folder there is a file called safety_cameras.db which has a date of 4/6/2011 and is only 2kb in size

In the POI folder I now have the following files which installed yesterday after going to Garmins website and telling it to install the demo of the Cyclops Speed Cameras

safety_camera_uk.gma - 3kb
safety_camera_uk.gpi - 673kb
safety_camera_uk.unl - 1kb

And now have an option on the About screen that states I have temporary cameras until 6th September.

I've also emailed Garmin as the product states under the live services of the device you get the cameras updated and this should show on the subscription but it doesn't.

I just use the PGPSW database on its own.
I took the Garmin cameras off, to avoid double-warnings.

I've got an SQLite folder but no sign of any Cyclops remnants.

Same here, I think the Garmin cameras lasted about an hour on mine.

The only appealing thing is that apparently the Garmin database is updated over-the-air, so you don't need to download new files unlike the PGPSW one.
