|
|
There is a red light camera in Leeds that now appears to have been convereted into a joint Gatso as well. The lines have been put down on the road and a speed camera sign erected together with a new speed limit sign (30mph)
Are there plans to introduce a new category of speed camera warnings to allow for these combined cameras ? The current red light warning alone does not inform of the speed camera.
The camera in question is on a wide signalised interchange (Sheepscar) |

There already is such a category, I think we call them REDSPEED (as opposed to the company which pinched our category name). Have you updaed the database? I guess not |

I have just updated the database and come back on here !
I saw that they are called RedSpeed, which is good name :-)
I use the "Consolidated" database download files for TomTom (OV2) and these do not have a RedSpeed classification yet (I downloaded and updated my database today).
Is there a plan to add this Redspeed category to the consolidated database ? This would be helpful IMHO. |

They get included with the static cameras in the 'gatso' file.
It's been discussed before and for now we are keeping them in there. Adding a new category can mean an extra 30+ database files for some speed zoned sets and many devices have a physical limit to the number of files they can use.

OK thanks for the quick replies !
So existing "Redlight" category cameras will move into the "Gatso" category if they get updated to speed as well as red light.
In effect my spoken warnings as I'm driving will change from Redlight to Gatso. That's sounds OK to me ... I just was'nt sure as I'm an only an occasional visitor here |

If you download the latest PGPSW voice files "Gatso" has been replaced with 'Fixed Speed Camera' (or something like that).
When I had passengers I would often get asked "What's a Gatso?" _________________ DashCam:

Correct - as the 'gatso' file is actually a set of fixed speed cameras (gatso, truvelo, monitron, redspeed) so we got the voice files done as such and for the CamerAlert app we don't distinguish between the types.
The name of the file will likely stay the same though for historical and support reasons - i.e. to explain to everyone how to remove the old files from each different system etc would be a nightmare. A few years on and we *still* have the occasional email about temp cameras on motorways where the user has still got the old temp file set on their system!!
