|
|
Hi, I'm looking to purchase a Truck 7000/9000 SD card for my TT720, but there are one or two questions I would like to ask first. Will it come with TT latest map guarantee, will it have lane guidance/ IQ routes, can I remove my euro map from the devise and just use the Sd card (freeing up space for poi's etc.) If I purchase it from a third party outlet will TT still support my devise? At present I have 9.430 App and 875 maps.
I have tried to ask the supplier these questions but there best reply is "not sure, it doesn't say on the box" |

I think you may be the trailblazer here.....
Certainly TomTom won't support you, as they only expect a "truck" map to be used with their specific "truck" hardware (even though we know it's basically just a rebadged Go720 or Go1000).
And even though it has worked in the past, there's nothing to stop TT crippling the standard Go software (in the future or maybe already!) to stop truck maps working at all.
I would love to know how you get on! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I haven't pursue it much further. At one point I very nearly purchased one off a well know auction, site but got suspicious when he ask me to email him my ttgo.bif file from my TT. (what ever that is/does) So at that point I backed down.
Just for interest sake why would he need the ttgo.bif file and what does it do?. |

The ttgo.bif file can be opened in NotePad and shows loads of device related information including the device code, given the device code seller will then hack the truck maps/ software to work on your device, this is software piracy otherwise called theft.
If you want to send me details of the retailer selling this stuff I will pass them on to TomTom and let their legal team deal with it - Mike |
