Hello
My husband has just downloaded Ice Cream Sandwich aka Android 4.
He redownloaded CamerAlert and it never works and always crashes.
Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?
He has a Galaxy S2

Not sure if this will help you but give it a try if not already done.
I have ICS on my HTC Sensation the last 3/4 days. Since then there have been a number of irregular and unrelated malfunctions. these have included the phone in a reboot loop for about an hour and the only way to stop was take the battery out.
There are a large number of complaints on the various Android Forums.
A fix that has worked for some is to shut down and restart the phone a few times as this seems tomake sure everything has loaded up as should.
Also remove the battery, leave for about 10 mins, and then put it back in and start again.
I have tried the CA app since update and it works OK (at least for now) as does the Navigon app I have. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Thank you for that but it didn't work.
When he tries to manage cameras and download the new database it crashes and gives a blank black screen which eventually says that it has crashed and does he want to send a report which he has done several times.
Any more ideas anyone? _________________ Best wishes

I don't have any ideas, but I do have an HTC Sensation that is prompting me to update to ICS over the air. I think I will keep and eye on this topic, and, for the time being, also keep saying "no thanks" to the prompt. _________________ Peter

I've updated to ICS on my Samsung Galaxy SII and I have had no issues with Camera Alert. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

Just a thought, I wonder if the update has 'broke the link' so to speak between CA and the phone.
You could submit a support ticket via the Support tab at the top and ask if his account could be reset. That may sort it. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I also updated to ICS on my SGS2 and CA works fine, delete it and download it again and see if that fixes it. _________________ Brian.

And I'm running the official ICS release on my Galaxy SII and it's all working fine so whatever the issue you are having, it's not due to ICS.
Can I suggest you uninstall CamerAlert, reboot your phone and then re-install. _________________ Darren Griffin |

HI Darren
We have tried that several times and it still crashes.
One thing he noticed was that when it was reinstalled it was still linked to my account (I am a lifetime member and he is using my subscription) and also it was located in the same position as before on his first homepage.
Does this give us any nore clues as to what is happening?
I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help please. _________________ Best wishes

We don't seem to get these crash reports. Is email working properly on that device? Can you please send one of the crash reports directly to me?

I have just recently started using a HTC One X that has ICS on it with the Sense 4.0 overlay.
Im having signal issues with the phone anyway so not sure whats going to happen yet with it, but when I tried out CA on it, all was fine until (I think) it was going to alert for a camera and it crashed.
Will investigate more if I continue to use the phone…. back to the Desire S for the time been, as that has better signal.

Now I have sorted my issues with the HTC One X (refunded one and now bought another SIM free) and had my PGPSW account linked to the Camera Alert app I can report that the app is crashing, mainly when it wants to alert me of a camera.
For some reason the log wont send to you but will try.
The One X runs ICS.

I had same problems when updated to ICS on my HTC Sensation.
What worked for me was to delete cache for CA, delete the app and then download again. Worked fine since.
Having said that, it just crashed this evening whilst trying to download the update via 3G.
However i think that was due to crap 3G by Vodafone, since i updated over wifi and all was OK.
By the way the smalll letter i is due the Mac keyboard being rubbish and not down to my spelling. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I have been running CamerAlert for a while now on a ICS 4.0.4 device. So far I haven't seen any of the issues you describe. Please try to catch the crash logs and send them to us. _________________ Lutz

My advice to anyone with a Galaxy S2 is to stay with Gingerbread. Ice Cream Sandwich is full of bugs. Unfortunately I upgraded my phone to ICS and, from two and a half days battery use I now only get 6 hours. |
