Hi
Happy New Year to you all.
I am planning a trip to Disney Paris with the kids next weekend but we have major worries given our experience with the Nuvi in the summer.
Our last trip was to the Franco/Spanish border and the Nuvi decided to take us through Paris not use the periphique which was a nightmare.
The same happened on the way home and I have no idea why it decided to do this.
I have been in the settings and turned off Traffic and Trends. I have selected fastest route which one would guess mean taking all motorways but it still decides to navigate through the city.
I just want next weekend to be quick and painless with 3 young kids in the back seat not a 3 hour tour of the Paris.
Can anyone help me sort this Garmin out and tell me why it insists on the route or do I resort to a book and the missus navigating!
I recently changed cars from a Merc ML with factory fitted Sat Nav and went to France loads of times. I always had an easy journey with no stress and the route selected was all fast roads especially around Paris.
I am quite disappointed with this kit to be honest.
Any help appreciated
Is there a way I can force the Nuvi to adopt a certain route. I heard you can import a route form Google maps and it should follow it.
Not sure how this is done though so any help would be welcomed.

I've never travelled by road to Disney Paris, but would have thought that the A26, A1, A104 and A4 (if coming from Calais), would be the best route.
You don't get as far as the Peripherique then, but skirt round the North East of Paris.
If the Nuvi still wants to travel via Paris can you set a Waypoint somewhere on the A104 to change its mind.

Just because the nuvi tells you to go through Paris you can simply get on the Peripherique ... it should then work out what you're doing and re-route you 
I've just run that route on my nuvi, and it takes me onto the Peripherique so not sure why yours doesn't. You might try a hard reset, that often cures 'weird' behaviour  |

Hi, yes I did try that last time but it kept telling me to get off at the next junction which became very confusing as I wasn't sure if it was the junction I needed.
If one does leave the periphique it is not easy getting back on in the direction you need!!
It was a shambles really and coupled with slow re-draws due to urban canyons it really was not pleasant. I bought a Satnav for the opposite.
I have also put the route in and it doesn't enter Paris this time so I'll see if it stays on course.
I have also downloaded a .gpx file from Michelin website which gives a preferable route.
How do I import this file into the Garmin and use it? can anyone help please?
At least the Garmin will be forced to use that route rather if it decides to "think for itself".

I have obtained a .gpx file from Michelin website with a route similar to your description.
How do I import and have it available if needs be?

I don't have a Garmin, but I think This Post might be of help to you.
