Has anyone here managed to get rtxmapeditor to create a POI CDROM of the speed trap database and get the unit to recognise it ?
My C6 has the RT4 model with firmware 8.20. I burnt and CD (using asc format) and can see the info on it, however when I load it into the satnav it reports it can see no POIs present.
Has anyone got it working, and if so can you give some idiot notes as I can't see what I've done wrong using the handbook.

I don't know the unit, or the software, myself but we'll need some information on the steps you've taken to see if you have done anything wrong.
Have you followed the RTxMapEditor 0.6.0.0: User's guide?
I downloaded a copy from Here. It seems pretty comprehensive to me (it's not the same as using it though), so stepping through that might give some idea.
The only thing that springs to mind is, are you using it in Map Mode or Alert Mode?
Hopefully someone will come along who has had hands-on experience with this. _________________ Richard

I did follow the guide, using the Alert mode. I downloaded the database as ASC - Other and as UK consolodated by type. I extracted the POI files for GATSO and SPECs and selected these individually into rxmapeditor.
The CD does seem to burn with the following results :-
$ find ./ -exec ls -ld {} \;
drwxr-xr-x ./
drwxr-xr-x ./MAPPE
drwxr-xr-x ./MAPPE/POI_USER
drwxr-xr-x ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005
-r--r--r-- 162 ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005/POI_VER_RADAR.TXT
-r--r--r-- 286599 ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005/RADAR.LZW
-r--r--r-- 25 ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005/RADARDSC.LZW
-r--r--r-- 17698 ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005/RADAR_PE.LZW
-r--r--r-- 6130 ./MAPPE/POI_USER/005/RADAR_PS.LZW
-r--r--r-- 111 ./POI_VER.POI
drwxr-xr-x ./UPG
-r--r--r-- 13753 ./UPG/JANFI67_SCRIPT.CMD
-r--r--r-- 1810 ./UPG/POI_UPGRADE.CMD
-r--r--r-- 84928 ./UPG/RTxUtils.out
-r--r--r-- 77 ./UPG/RTxUtils.out.inf |

Got it working
You need each area directory to be populated. Option one, get each map and process together or individually then combine together.
Option two, which I did. Get/buy the official speed trap database (waste of £9 for me as it is really inaccurate). Copy in to one directory. Compile the UK maps in to another directory and over-write the original zone directory then write to media. now the only catch is I need to sort out formatting as each alert I get includes a do not resell message from rxeditor, plus it's no longer directional (which the database and the RT4 both are) |
