I have taken my old TT GO 700 out of retirement. I plugged it in and charged up the battery and everything works. The details of what it's running are:
Next, Tomtom HOME fires up, and offers to update the Operating System, so I allow it to do that. When it's finished, on restart the 700 just shows a screen with No Maps Detected, and it's impossible to do anything at all further with the device. The map is present and correct when viewed in Explorer.
Luckily, I'm a good little boy, and I've got full backups saved on my computer, so it's a simple job to restore the 700 to the last backup, which was taken in 2008.
When HOME opens with the old OS, no map update is offered.
Ultimately, my question is, is the new OS able to see the old map? I don't want to spend £40 on a new map if there's something else wrong going on.

Firstly try resetting the device, if you still get the no maps found message try my next idea.
Assuming your V715 map was purchased/ installed using TomTom Home the new OS/ Navcore should be able to use the map, I would try downloading the "Clear Flash" utility from the TomTom web site, read the instructions and run it three times (even though it doesn't look like its doing anything) then see what happens when the device boots up - Mike

I doubt its even getting as far as reading the MapSettings.cfg file if it can't find the map in the first place, and if it were this giving problems the device would be re-booting all the time - Mike
