Hello,
Apologies if i sound a bit of a numpty,if i dont ask i'll never know
I had a street pilot III ages(proberly 5/6 years back) ago altough i was'nt clear how it worked and did not use it often i still fumbled about, its my guess as i've moved twwice recently the old sat nav has been bunged in a skip ,so after this weekends fiasco away on the bikes with a few lads,no-one had a gps and we seemed to spend most of the day parked at the side of the road with the old atlas open so i have gone out and brought myself a Zumo 550.
It arrived yesterday and i spent yesterday afternoon trying to sort it out, playing with it indoors i found out it needed to be in the car cradle and plugged in to the power to hear the voice commands.I charged the unit up,put the motorcycle cradle on to my bike and went out for a ride,i plugged the Zumo in to my starcom system and got no voice commands.......
Does the Zumo have to have power running to it from the bike at all times to hear it?
I of course have the power lead for the bike, but thought if i run it on its own battery supply,i could still hear the directions.
I do intend putting a bigger SD card in and putting my music on to it,thus using the Zumo as my music player as well as my sat nav.
Speeding.....ooops sorry saftey cameras is something else i shall be waning to find out about
OK.....i have worked out a few things and was getting on so well........
.........until i tried to download my music, unbeknown to me the european maps were on the sdcard and not actualy on the Garmin,i managed to wipe the europe maps off the card,no warnings at all,Nth America is still on there,so must be on the Garmin hard drive.
Garmin told me according to my serial number i did'nt have the Europe maps,i did managed to convince them that they were installed, although on the box it only says Nth America installed,i went in to my Amazon history and read the description to the customer service advisor, which clearly stated maps of europe included.Garmin then blamed Amazon and said i needed to take it up with them.
