|
|
Today, using IE8 to visit this site I am getting the following message:
Quote: | Stop running this script?
A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly,
If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive.
Yes/No |
Selecting either Yes or No makes no difference, the message disappears for a few seconds and then returns. This happens on the home page. Eventually I have to kill IE using the task manager.
Other sites are working ok. This site is working ok using Google Chrome.
Has something changed on the site that IE8 doesn't like? I visit the site most days using IE8 and haven't had the problem before. _________________ Paul |

Yes, exactly this happened to me also when using IE8 to get the download.
It was fine when using Firefox.

yep, we're seeing this as well... it seems to be an issue with the 'addthis' stuff we use for the social media sharing.
other users have reported it to addthis so we're waiting for a fix from them (all the code is handled off-site so it's nothing we've changed...
i know it's not ideal but i'd recommend a different browser while they get it sorted.
i'm also looking into ways to have the same sharing functionality without having to rely on using 'addthis'

Thanks MaFt. I'll use an alternative browser until a fix is available.
Hope they get it sorted soon as IE8 will be popular with users who won't have alternative browsers available and the problem seems to render this site unusable with IE8.
It does work ok with IE9 but that's not an option on Windows XP. _________________ Paul |

Me too, got it in the end but a much slower download than usual. At one point it said more than 5 minutes remaining whilst downloading the camera database. A connection based on wet string rather than fibre optics! _________________ Paul |

Thanks MaFt. I don't do twitter and didn't know until now that I could read it without signing up for it. Bookmarked for the future. _________________ Paul |

I'd like to request an alternative method of getting this news. We don't all do Twitter or want to have anything to do with it.
Surely news like that could be posted in the "News" section of the forum, or on the PGPSW Home page?
By the way, I'm still finding it very slow today, especially for uploading posts. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
