May be worth sending your 37X0 back to Garmin - hopefully still under warranty and explain the issues. There is a diagnostic screen (which you can access from View Map, press speed then press and hold large speed dial for 6 or 7 seconds to access diagnostics page - shutdown causes should be 2nd in the list) which may help them (ring to get an RMA number).
I have covered many 10,000s of miles with my 3790 and have only experienced 1 random shut down, a few screen freezes and a few too many random "re-calculating" but all in all this is the most stable Garmin I have owned. I use 3.90 software as that works best for me. _________________ DriveLuxe 51 LMT D - Firmware 6.70

Thanks for the information. I did as you suggested and was appaled to find 56 shutdown causes; mostly Data Abort and RTL Traps.
Sadly, my Nuvi is out of warranty and indeed, this is the second unit I've had of this model. It's particularly galling because, should I wish to upgrade to a newer model, I can't in all conscience, sell it on to someone else, knowing that it crashes so often.
I am using software version 4.30. Is it possible or desirable to wipe the unit and then reload software and maps? and do you think this would make a difference?
