|
|
Hi all,
I've recently installed Garmin Mobile XT v4.10.60 on my Nokia N95 and am really quite impressed. I got hold of a POI.GPL file, which apparently contained a Speed Camera database for the UK.
My problem is that when approaching speed camera's in a 30 mph zone it flashes up a warning on screen saying "19 mph". If I happen to drop below 19 mph, the warning will stop. Surely it should warn you if you are doing more than 30 mph? Is there any way to change this?
It does the same for 40 mph but flashes up 25 mph. Is this an issue with the POI's or the Software itself?
Also, are there any POI files within the Speed Camera database on this site that are compatible with this version of Mobile XT?
Many thanks. |

Hi and welcome.
Can i ask where the POI.GPI file came from?
The problem you are experiencing is a common one. It is caused by someone loading the database with a KPH setting in POILoader instead of MPH. The only way to fix it is to reload the database and use the MPH setting. |

So, I've got POI Loader installed, where can I get the original Database from?
Many thanks. |

The download you got is almost certainly a pirate download.
You get legitimate copies by subscribing here. Click on the yellow camera logo at the top left or click here |

sixarm That file and link is for pirate software. The file is only available to legitimate subscribers to Garmin's database. I have removed the link and notified Garmin of its existence.
Can I ask you please not to post it again. You may not have realised it was pirated but then again, anyone using that web-site can be in little doubt having read the discussion. _________________ Darren Griffin

I thought as much, and can only apologise.
So, where can I legitimately get hold of a Speed Camera database file to use with POI Loader? |

There are two sources, either subscribe to Garmin's database which isn't great to be honest as many Garmin owners will confirm or ours? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'd certainly like to subscribe to yours. So there are files on your database that are definitely compatible with Mobile XT? |

If it uses POILoader then yes, we have a POILoader compatible set. _________________ Darren Griffin |

if it can use POI Loader (garmin.com/poiloader) then use the 'Garmin POILoader' version.
if it comes with mapsource then you may be able to use the GPX files from 'Garmin Other' ?
what does the manual say?

Could you tell me where on my micro sd card I load the speed camera database for the garmin xt software to be able to use it / see it. Sorry if this seems a bit of a stupid question. |

As per the post prior to yours, you need to use Garmin's POILoader app, that will dictate where the files go. _________________ Darren Griffin |
