TomTom v8 on w/screen Navigo?

Hi, just found this forum and had a good read and this place looks like it will have the answer to my question(s)......

Last week i was handed down a w/screen Navigo satnav from a friend, who has been running tomtom v7 on it with no probs, but he's now got a new car with built in satnav and has no longer a need for this one!

My question is.....how if possible, do i put tomtom v8 on to it, or put new maps on to the tomtom v7 thats running ok now?

Going to turkey on hols and renting a car, so this would help us get about without paper maps and stopping the locals to ask the way! And as i speak 0 Turkish thats gonna be fun!

For the PDA based software (which is what you are using on the Navigo) version 7 is the latest for the UK/ Europe and version 6 for USA.

The PNA units made by TomTom running Navcore 8 or even 9 are Linux based and will not run on your hardware.

It should be possible to purchase the latest maps to run on the v7 PDA software but as the hardware is unsupported you will have a heck of a job activating the map. The only way I know of doing it involves rather dubious behaviour (hacking) which isn't something we permit to be discussed on this forum - Mike
