I have recently brought the TomTom Start but cannot work out how to avoid motorways!!
I have been told that there is a download to customise the menu options so that avoiding motorways can be accessed...can anybody help me out with this please?!
Thank you |

That thread has all the custom menu lines that are known to work on the Start, it also has a number of suggested menu text that can be copied from the forum post straight in to NotePad and then saved as TomTom.txt
Next change the file extension from .txt to .mnu using Windows Explorer.
Finally create a folder called "SDKRegistry" (without the "") this needs to be in the root of the device, copy the TomTom.mnu file to the SDKRegistry folder on the device.

Right click the file and choose "ReName" from the pop up box, when Windows tells you this isn't a good idea simply click yes/ OK and carry on as you need to do this step.

The "Root" of the device is the first level you see when you open the drive letter associated with the TomTom when its connected to the PC - Mike |

Open Explorer. Click 'Tools'. Select 'Folder options'. Click the 'View' tab. Scroll down the list a bit and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. (Win 7, but earlier versions is a similar process) 'OK' your way out.
Back up your device first with Win Explorer. (If you can on a Start) |

Windows Explorer NOT Internet Explorer.
Click Start/ Computer as Windows Explorer is often entered from that menu - Mike |
